There are countless opportunities exist to help those in need of disaster relief and recovery. Many of these will require short travel and are located just north in Lee and Charlotte counties. The State of Florida provides an excellent online resource to learn about and register. This site is the easiest way to find already established events and organizations actively looking for volunteers for specific days or events.
St. Matthew's House’s mission is to help those who need a hand. They have provided meals and shelter to those in need for over 35 years. They have various opportunities, from food distribution to stocking or organizing shelves at their food pantries and thrift stores.
Our Daily Bread Food Pantry, located on Marco Island, strives to support families in the Marco Island and Naples areas. They frequently need volunteers to assist with food distribution at their Marco Island Pantry and to distribute food at mobile pantries.
Volunteers make it possible for the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida to feed a quarter of a million people a month in the local area. Volunteers are always needed to sort and pack food donations at their distribution centers in Naples or Fort Myers or distribute food at mobile pantries and collect donations at food drives.
Hurricane Ian resulted in the displacement of many animals. Southwest Florida Humane Societies and Domestic Animal Services are all desperate for used towels of any kind. As an easy, tangible contribution, we can arrange collection and donation on your behalf if you have spare suitcase space and wish to travel with an old towel from home.
